Technical data
Valdesquí is a ski resort situated in the Guadarrama mountain range (belonging to the Central System), on the northern side of the La Bola del Mundo mountains and El Cerro de Valdemartín mountains. It is located in the municipal area of Rascafría, in the north west Community of Madrid (Spain).
Inaugurated on 6th January 1972, it constitutes one of the most important leisure areas for the inhabitants of Madrid and Segovia, due to the proximity of both cities. Its location on the north side means that it receives a large amount of snow froms the storms coming from the north and north west, at the same time as contributing to the fact that the snow lasts a long time on the slopes.
It is the 4th closest ski resort to an international airport in Europe, with the Adolfo Suarez (Barajas) international airport just 76.6 km away, and the 2nd closest to a large city in terms of inhabitants (6.55 million, Madrid, Spain).
